Registration
Registration opens 01/05/12. Registration fee is $10.
All actors must register to secure an audition space. Registration is online only, first-come, first-served until all 120 slots are filled. A stand-by list will begin when the slots are filled. Details for stand-by will be made available online. After you register you will receive a phone call within 24 hours to confirm your exact audition time.
Selection Sunday, Open Call Auditions
DATE: Sunday, March 11, 2012 at the Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel
in Arlington (Crystal City), VA.
TIME: 9:00am-5:00pm, Judges Break is 12pm-1pm

METRO: Nearest METRO stop is Crystal City on the Yellow Line. The walk down Crystal Drive from METRO to the Renaissance is about 15 minutes.
PARKING: FREE off-street parking is available near the hotel.
FOOD: Coffee, food, and beverage are available for purchase at the hotel or at numerous restaurants along the walk to the Renaissance.
HEADSHOTS/RESUMES: Please bring THREE headshots & resumes stapled or printed back-to-back. If this number changes, registered actors will be notified and an update will be made online at www.MonologueMadness.net.
PREPARE: Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your appointment. Actors are given TWO MINUTES to present up to two monologues of their choosing. Monologues may be comedic, dramatic, or classical. Self-written, non-published monologues are allowed.
SCORING: Monologues will be judged on a 0-100 point scale by three casting directors. Scoring is based on preparation, choice of monologue, and acting ability.
Top 32
The Top 32, highest-scoring actors, from the open call will be invited to compete on Championship Sunday in Washington, DC, location TBD.
Actors will be notified on Monday, March 12 and the Top 32 will be posted online on Monday, March 12. Actors must accept invitation upon receipt of invitation. Actors declining invitation will allow a lower-scoring actor to be admitted to the Top 32.
The Top 32 actors will be bracketed for tournament competition. There will be 8 “seeds”. Details on tournament seeding will be posted online.
Audience Tickets
Audience tickets to Championship Sunday are $15 and will go on sale, online only, Feb 1. Tickets sell quickly, please secure friends, family, & fan tickets ASAP.
Championship Sunday
April 1, 2012, 7pm-9pm. Location TBD. Location will be within the Washington, DC region,
metro-accessible. There will be 6 NEW judges and a live audience of approximately 200.
Actors must be prepared with THREE monologues. Monologues used at open call may be used in the competition. Round 1 is Comedy. Round 2 is Drama. Round 3 is Classical. Actors will be scored in pairs, i.e. Actor 1 competing against Actor 2 in the round of Comedy. Both actors take the stage, Actor 1 presents, then Actor 2 presents. Actors are scored by the panel of judges. The entire round is completed when all pairs of the bracket have presented.
Tabulation occurs between each round.
An announcement is made as to which actors of each pair advance to the next round. 16 actors will advance to Round 2. 8 actors will advance to Round 3. 4 actors will advance to Round 4.
Should the actor advance, Round 4 is the Cold Read. Actor will be given approximately 5 minutes to prepare a cold read, gender-neutral monologue for presentation, on-stage, before judges and audience. Tabulation occurs. 2 actors will advance to the Final Round. Details on the Final Round requirement will not be made available until the evening of the competition.
Awards
The winning actor will receive $1000, in addition to other prizes. Actor must fill out W9 for tax purposes. Payment will be made via check within 30 days of competition. All 32 actors will receive prize packages. Prize details will be updated online at www.MonologueMadness.net
